Our recent study examining patterns of genetic risk in bipolar disorder have recently been published in The Lancet Psychiatry. The research involving over 4000 BDRN research participants found that mania, depression and psychosis symptom dimensions have different patterns of genetic risk suggesting partly distinct causes. These findings highlight the importance of distinguishing between these symptom subdomains in research into the causes of bipolar disorder and in the future development of targeted treatments in bipolar disorder.
Thank you to all the BDRN participants who contributed to this study.
